Asbestos Survey Sussex

At Summit Environmental, we conduct asbestos surveys in accordance with HSG264, the official survey guide. Contact us today to schedule your asbestos survey and ensure your property is safe and compliant. We offer a range of surveys, including:

Asbestos Management Surveys

+

Our management surveys help you comply with The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). The goal of a management survey is to locate any suspected asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within the building that could be damaged or disturbed during normal use. This helps ensure ongoing management of ACMs.

Re-inspection Surveys

+

Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) can become damaged or degrade over time. Re-inspection surveys are designed to monitor and record the condition of previously identified ACMs, allowing for effective long-term management.

Refurbishment Surveys

+

Refurbishment surveys are more intrusive than management surveys and are required for any work that may disturb the fabric of the building. This includes areas that may not have been thoroughly examined in the management survey.

Demolition Surveys

+

Demolition surveys are fully intrusive and aim to identify all asbestos-containing materials through destructive techniques. These surveys ensure access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach, to ensure comprehensive identification of ACMs.

Asbestos Air Monitoring

At Summit Environmental, your health and safety are our top priorities. Asbestos fibres become hazardous when they become airborne, which is why our asbestos air monitoring services are vital during and after any remediation work. We also monitor background fibre levels to help maintain a safe environment and determine the appropriate respiratory protection.

Our team provides UKAS-accredited asbestos fibre air monitoring, conducted on-site throughout your project. Following HSE guidance HSG 248 to the highest standards, we ensure reliable and precise results.

How it works
1

Investigations

To determine if asbestos is present, we conduct a historical data study or perform site-specific sampling of visible asbestos on surface soils. We also use additional site investigation techniques, such as boreholes, trial pits, or trenches, to identify asbestos that may be located below the surface.
2

Quantifications

After collecting samples, Summit Environmental performs quantification analysis to assess the amount and types of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) present. Testing is conducted in an accredited laboratory, where samples are weighed and measured as a percentage of the total sample weight. Asbestos fibres are quantified using sedimentation in water, followed by analysis with Phase Contrast Optical Microscopy (PCOM), which helps classify the waste in the soil.
3

Remediation

Once asbestos is identified and confirmed as containing waste materials, Summit Environmental manages the remediation process for you. Our services may include excavation and removal of contaminated materials, as well as implementing control measures to minimise asbestos exposure.

Asbestos Management Plans

Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, it’s essential for all duty holders with known or presumed asbestos in their premises to have a robust written asbestos management plan in place.

We specialise in creating effective asbestos management plans that identify and assess the risks associated with asbestos in your property. Our plans provide clear procedures to manage these risks and ensure the safety of everyone on-site. Regular monitoring and reviews are integral to maintaining the plan's effectiveness, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
