We are pleased to announce we have won the contract to work with Eastbourne Borough Council and Lewes District Council to inspect fire doors and conduct fire risk assessments across the two towns and their surrounding areas. This is one of our biggest jobs to date and we are ready to take on the challenge. We share why we won the contract over 20other competitors and what this means for Summit Environmental.
Fire door inspections across Eastbourne and Lewes
Since 2022, it has been a legal requirement for fire doors to be inspected on a regular basis for all buildings over 11 metres high (generally four storeys). The term “regular” is defined as every three months, so we will be carrying out quarterly assessments on all fire doors of qualifying buildings in the 350 sites the council runs, ensuring all council buildings meet the current UK fire safety regulations, which were strengthened in the light of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
Why Summit Environmental?
Deciding on a company for your fire inspections is a big decision for public sector organisations council like Eastbourne Borough Council and Lewes District Council, as they need to be confident the company they choose is thorough and trustworthy. In addition to ensuring that council properties meet regulations, the council also has to be confident that contractors will communicate efficiently and transparently to keep them in the picture at all times. A spokesperson for the council shared the three main reasons why they chose Summit Environmental over 20 other competitors for their fire risk assessments:
Quality: “We were impressed with the quality of the fire risk assessments Summit Environmental carried out, they contained the right amount of detail, while still being formatted in a way that makes them easy to understand.”
Detail: “ In comparison to their competitors, Summit went above and beyond to provide detail when answering the Quality Questionnaires.”
Transparency: “Summit Environmental have worked to our timelines and been fully transparent at all times. They provided us with competitive rates for carrying out Fire Risk Assessments, without compromising on quality.”
What does this win mean for Summit?
As a growing company, securing this contract is a big win for us, as our Director, Mark Elwell, explains: “Winning this contract is a real boost for us, as we strengthen our offering to councils and clients looking for a reliable environmental consultancy. Our team is growing, and this helps us reinvest in the future of Summit Environmental as we move into more of this type of work. We couldn’t feel prouder.”
