Experienced asbestos consultant, Ryan Chatfield recently joined Summit to oversee asbestos surveys, ensuring that our procedures are followed to the highest standards, whilst staying compliant with all current legislation. We spoke with Ryan to explore why he’s excited about his new role and why he chose to work with Summit Environmental.
What attracted you to Summit Environmental?
I knew the Managing Director, Mark Elwell, from previous experience, so I know his ethos towards customer service and quality closely matches my own. From previous employment, we’ve both seen aspects of the asbestos industry which we disagree with, and I believe he has built Summit with an uncompromised attitude towards quality. It is the kind of company that you would like to have your name associated with.
What experience do you have, prior to joining Summit?
I’ve been in the asbestos industry since 2012,covering removal and surveying as both an operative and consultant. I obtained my P402 in 2013 and have been surveying properties ever since, mainly in the commercial and educational sectors.
What aspect of your new role are you most excited about?
I would have to say I’m most excited about the new challenge. Mark and Summit are doing well and from what I’ve seen thus far the trajectory looks promising. I’m looking forward to helping develop the company as it continues to mature, as well as bringing on the next generation of surveyors in the form of Ben, Darren and Ed.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Music! No matter what I’m doing, I'll always have my music on. I love playing and listening to live music. Before becoming a dad, I was in a covers band for over a decade.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Middle lane hoggers!
What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?
Again - I’d have to say music. I’d be lost without it.
